Cadleigh Manor, Cadleigh, Ivybridge, Devon, PL21 9HW
Cadleigh Manor is very conveniently located on the outskirts of Ivybridge in the South Hams, which makes it an ideal base for exploring the rugged and vast beauty of Dartmoor, escaping to the coast and ambling along the South Devon Coast Path, or for a day out in ‘Britain’s Ocean City’ of Plymouth. Here are a few of our favourites:
Bigbury’s most famous landmark is Burgh Island, which overlooks the beach itself. The island is accessible at low tide, when the waters reveal a causeway that links it to the beach. However, when the tide is in you can still reach the island by hitching a ride on the popular and unique ‘sea tractor’. More information here.
A delightfully rustic country pub, with an exquisite freshly prepared menu designed to tempt and delight anyone looking for fantastic food. Whether it’s an intimate meal for two or a family friendly lunch or evening meal there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Set in 33 acres of beautiful woodland with some stunning views of the surrounding countryside and a fantastic collection of animals, Dartmoor Zoo is a unique family day out in the beautiful South Hams of Devon.
With 368 square miles of unspoilt beauty. It’s the kind of place you can just venture into, uncover hidden gems of pubs, culture and natural wonders. Dartmoor is the largest and wildest area of open country in Southern England, and it really feels like it.
We are blessed with some of the most remarkable photographic opportunities within a few minutes of Cadleigh Manor B & B.
One of the most significant opportunities is at Dartmoor Wildlife Park or Dartmoor Zoo in Sparkwell. The Park are incredibly accommodating to visiting photographers, providing them with accompanied access to certain areas and views that members of the public ordinarily don't get to see. Some of our guests have sent us absolutely stunning photographs of wildlife snapped less than 10 minutes from here.
South Devon has breadth of beautiful scenery, from woodland, moorland, and countryside to coastal and historic. The ruined village of Hallsands with the sun setting over Start Point, the rugged beauty of stunted oaks on the windswept moor or the autumnal colours of our local woodlands can all provide you with a photograph that you can cherish.
Although we can't help you to frame the shot, we can point out some ideas of where to go. The photography bit is up to you!
